Sunderland Photography Association Annual Exhibition
Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, 11 March – 5 -May
If you’re after a bit of culture why not visit the Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens to take a look at the Sunderland Photography Association’s Annual Exhibition. Running from 11 March – 5 May and showcasing all of the best photography from the last year, the exhibition is bound to inspire. Even better is that entry is completely free!

Lower than Atlantis at the 02 Academy – Newcastle upon Tyne, 14 March
Okay we know this isn’t technically in Sunderland, but seeing the Hertfordshire-based rock quartet play live seemed like too good an opportunity to miss. The band will be performing songs from their new album Safe In Sound, which is loaded with robust and riotous anthems that strike the perfect balance between the band’s pop tendencies and grunge roots.

Riverford Master Veg Class at The Nest – Gateshead, 15 March
Riverford – award-winning supplier of organic veg boxes – will be hosting a hands on vegetarian cooking class at The Nest in Gateshead (only about a 20 minute bus ride from Sunderland). The class will focus on cooking techniques to make the most of fresh produce and you will have the opportunity to make three delicious seasonal dishes. The cost of the class includes a copy of Riverford’s Spring Summer veg cook book and your first medium sized veg box delivered to your house the following week.

St Patrick’s Day, 17 March
Conveniently falling on a Friday for 2017, St Patty’s day is always one of the best celebrations of the year. Whether you’re planning a relaxed Guinness at the pub, or a wild night out dressed as a leprechaun, the city is sure to be buzzing with Irish cheer.

The Full Monty – Sunderland Empire, 20 – 25 March
Based on the smash-hit British film about six out of work Sheffield steel workers with nothing to lose, this hilarious and heartfelt production stars Gary Lucy, Andrew Dunn, Louis Emerick, Chris Fountain, Anthony Lewis, Kai Owen. Not only has the play received standing ovations every night, The Full Monty has also won the prestigious UK Theatre Award for best touring production.
